FELC in Transition

This page contains links below to information and updates about the First English Lutheran Church transition ministry.

The FELC transition ministry began formally on January 16, 2023. The transition ministry has two parts: the transition itself and then the call process for our next pastor of word and sacrament. This transition is the work of the whole congregation to God’s glory, and for the whole congregation and community.

The congregation council formed a Transition Team in the summer of 2023. This transition team works with the congregation, the council, the staff, and ministry partners to clarify our vision and tell the story of our life and future. That process takes purposeful time and care. There have been opportunities to gather in large and small group settings to work on storytelling and listening together. From this work, a profile is being created seeking our next called pastor. The transition team will then begin interviews.

As a congregation, FELC decides who our next pastor will be in a called congregation meeting.

Since 1936, FELC has been a community of welcome, faith, and community engagement. We seek to be in prayer and listen to God through one another. We strive to form the ministry to which God is calling us in these next stages of our life.

We are not alone. The Holy Spirit holds us.

This prayer is offered throughout our transition ministry: O God, you have called your servants to ventures of which we cannot see the ending, by paths untrodden, through things unknown. Give us faith to go out with good courage, not knowing where we go, but only that your hand is leading us and your love supporting us; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
