Worship & Music

Sunday Eucharist Worship

Regular Schedule: 8:30 AM and 11:00 AM

Summer Schedule (Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day):  9:45 AM

We gather each Sunday in community to celebrate the good news of God in Christ, hear God’s Word in Scripture and preaching, pray for our needs and the needs of others, share the meal of Holy Communion, and be sent into the world to serve as Jesus did.

Worship at FELC emphasizes grace, encountering God in Christ through Word and Sacrament, experiencing holiness and mystery through music, beauty, ritual, silence, and the gathered community. You are invited to participate in ways that are meaningful for you. Our worship is rooted in the historic, liturgical and musical traditions of the church while enjoying church music from all eras and other world cultures. The entire worship liturgy is printed in the bulletin, making it easy for everyone to participate even if unfamiliar with Lutheran liturgical worship.

We welcome all baptized Christians to share in the Lord’s Supper with us.  We encourage seekers and questioners to participate in a way meaningful for you, and to explore at your own pace the way the Christian faith and the liturgy are speaking to you.

Music is an important part our worship and ministry. We have an excellent choir of adults and high school students that sings most Sundays at the 11:00 service from September through May. Choir rehearsals are most Wednesday evenings at 7:00. We encourage participants to learn a new skill, enhance a talent, serve in community and build relationships.

Children, youth and adults with various abilities sing and play instruments, including percussion.

During the summer, participants offer a solo or lead in small group settings.

First English hosts a wide variety of musical concerts and recitals in our sanctuary, which is known in the Austin area for its rich acoustics that make music come alive. For more information, contact Bryan Rust, Director of Music at music@felc.org.
