EVENING COMPANIONS GROUP
Tuesday, September 23 at 7 pm
The evening Companions group will begin its new study Tuesday, September 23,
7-8:30 pm at Barbara Wiederaenders’ home 1904 W. 38th Street, (512) 451-0684.
The group will be using The Way of Discernment by Elizabeth Liebert (available
on the Web). They will meet weekly through early December. Anyone is welcome to

WHOLE (with guts and heads) DEAD FISH
Christian Formation, Sunday, September 28

Not your typical resource for Christian Formation, but God works in mysterious
ways. All ages of Spark Rotation will be experiencing one of the miracles of
Jesus by creating Japanese Gyotaku (fish prints) using whole dead fish. Be sure
to arrive early (by 9:45) and bring your camera!

This is our final session until November. If you have not experienced this new
ministry, come and check it out. This month we’ve laughed at the comedic
greatness of Robin Williams, as well as the hit TV series The Office. And we’ve
discussed suicide, forgiveness, and how those affect our lives and church.

Youth Group is going paddleboarding immediately following 11 o’clock worship service … about 12:30.

MEN NEEDED TO HELP WITH STREET YOUTH DROP IN CENTER MEAL
Sunday, October 5
The men’s group is next in line to provide the meal for the Street Youth Drop In
Center, hosted at University Baptist Church. Pastor Coffey is organizing the
event. All men of the church are encouraged to help out with this great ministry
helping youth and young adults in the UT area. We need volunteers to help prep
food, serve, and donate to help pay for the meal. E-mail Pastor Coffey to let

STILES SWITCH BBQ & BREW

Members of Thrivent Financial and their friends and family are joining together
to form a Thrivent Action Team in First English Lutheran Church. The team is
planning on bringing barbecue from a local joint known as Stiles Switch BBQ &
Brew to benefit the Marjorie Fund.
What: Members of First English Lutheran Church will come enjoy some good barbecue and help benefit the Marjorie Fund
