WORKDAY at Marjorie’s House
Saturday, November 1
Saturday, November 1 is the day we will carefully move Marjorie’s possessions out so we may clean, paint, and add new flooring in her 750 sq. ft. home. We will need lifters, carriers, scrubbers, painters, carpet layers, and more! Volunteers will need to bring their own tools, paint brushes, paint rollers, paint pans, rubber gloves & scrub brushes. For details, contact Fred at: (512) 453-8566
ALL SAINTS SUNDAY: November 2
Next Sunday, November 2, we will observe All Saints Sunday, a time to remember and give thanks for saints near and far, famous and familiar only to us, those who died long ago and those we have lost recently. As part of the observance we will read the names of those from FELC who have died during the past year.
We invite members to bring pictures and mementos to place on our sacred space of remembrance, add names to the sacred space of all loved ones we remember, and to write the names of those who have died in the past year in the Book of the Dead. This service can be a touching and helpful part of our ongoing grief and mourning, and a chance to remember with thanksgiving those whom God has blessed us to share life with.
CHILDREN and FAMILY
Saints, Saints, and More Saints.
Sunday, November 2, is our All About Saints event. We’ll be visited by four historical saints, play saintly inspired games, and eat the treats of All Saints. It all begins at 9:45 am in the library.
GROW GREEN DAY
Saturday, November 8, 9–11 am
Our monthly Grow Green Days have shown success over the last year and we continue to put in quality time and effort on eco-friendly landscaping projects around the FELC grounds. Grow Green Days happen the 2nd Saturday of the month from 9–11 am. Current projects include:
1) constructing and maintaining our community garden,
2) spreading mulch (which helps conserve moisture),
3) removing invasive species, and
4) planting native species (which need less water).
These projects help both our human and nonhuman neighbors. Please join us Saturday, November 8, 9–11 am, for our next Grow Green Day! Contact Travis Gould with any questions: email@example.com or 830-328-3068.
CDC BOOK FAIR ON NOW
First English Lutheran CDC is hosting a Scholastic Book Fair weekdays from October 20-30. Please feel free to drop by the Fellowship Hall any weekday afternoon from 3:30-5:30. Or check out our online Book Fair:
Either way, you can find great Christmas gifts for kids of all ages, while supporting our school. Scholastic gives FELCDC a portion of the profits to spend on books and classroom supplies.
