SOCIAL MINISTRY JUSTICE FAIR
Planning Meeting Date: Wednesday June 4
As Vicar Kwame closes out her Internship Project, Save the Date for August 3,
2014 Sunday from 1-5 pm for the Social Justice Ministry Fair/Concert to be held
here at First English. The purpose for this event is connecting ourselves, our
sister Lutheran churches and our ecumenical partners with those organizations
out there; because sometimes we within our own communities don’t realize that we
are united, fighting the same fight. So save the date!
If you would like to be on the planning committee for this endeavour, then please contact Vicar Kwame: firstname.lastname@example.org. A planning meeting is set for Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at 6 pm here at FELC.
DAY OF PENTECOST
Sunday, June 8, we celebrate the presence and call of the Spirit on this 50th (Pente) day at the conclusion of the Easter season. We will affirm our vocation as people of faith and be sent as light in the world. All are invited to wear the color red, the primary color for the fire and power of the Holy Spirit.

COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT: Gimme Your Shoes !!
During May and June you have the opportunity to help with a project benefiting Drive-A-Senior (formerly known as Faith In Action). We are asking that you
donate your old shoes. From May 18 – June 30 there will be a marked collection box in the hall. We accept all types of shoes, male or female, sneakers or high
heels. This unique fundraising program provides Drive-A-Senior with a sum of money based on the number of shoes collected; so please donate as many shoes as possible.
The program known as Funds2org.com and Soles4Souls contracts with established micro-enterprise distributors to transport and distribute used shoes to Central America, South America, and Africa. Look for more description in the June Echoes newsletter.
For additional information on giving contact Pat Thomas at (512) 441-1485.
