CHILDREN AND FAMILY CORNER

quailMinecraft Bible Study will explore a story about Manna, Quail, and Water during children’s church this Sunday. This story comes from the Old Testament book of Exodus 16:2-4, 9-16. God truly provides all that we need.

What are some things you need that God provides for you? Come and use your imaginations as we enter a story full of mystery. Don’t forget to bring your laptop or tablet. And we’ll taste a little manna for our snack. Your leader this week will be the awesome Ms. Natalie Archer. See you on Sunday!

For the Grownups…Please mark Sunday August 30th on your calendars. We’ll hold a parent meeting immediately following the 9:45 am service in the parlor. Lunch will be provided along with adult supervision for the kids on the playground. Then we’ll head over to Barton Springs for a family swim day from 1-4 pm. All family members and friends are welcome to join us. This will be a great opportunity for you to invite friends with children to come and experience the excellent family ministry we have at FELC.

A VOICE CALLING IN THE WILDERNESS

wildernessDo you love children? Has it been a while since you’ve been asked a question that has nothing to do with the story you’re telling? Do you enjoy repeating yourself over and over? 🙂

Well, I’ve got some “Good News” for you. Children’s Church runs through September 6th and we still need volunteers. Children’s Formation (aka Sunday school) begins mid-September and we need lots of help with that too.

By now you’re probably wondering where you can sign up. That’s easy. Just get in touch with Jimmy Wright formation@felcaustin.org or by calling (440) 985-8981. In fact, if you call within the next ten minutes we won’t charge you a thing! That’s right, you pay nothing. As a bonus you’ll receive many rewards in Heaven. Call (440) 985-8981.

But wait! There’s more. Call within the next five minutes and we’ll include free training. That’s right, leading children to God, rewards in Heaven, and free training. Now that’s what I call a win/win/win. Just call (440) 985-8981.

Don’t be fooled by imitations. This is the real deal. We teach and worship the One True God. The Big Guy. The Great I Am. And you can rest assured with our 100% satisfaction guarantee. Call now. Operators are standing by. 🙂

YOUTH HAPPENINGS
by Jimmy Wright

rise up girlsI’m finally feeling caught up on my rest after the ELCA Youth Gathering. What an amazing time we had. Plans are being made for an exciting and formative 2015/2016 program year. A quick sneak peek…

· Beginning in September, we’ll be partnering with St. David’s Church for Sunday evening youth group. This weekly event will be a combination of fellowship, music, movies, games, formation, community service and fun outings. And food! We mustn’t forget the food! Keep watch for exact dates and times.

· We have a couple of youth retreats that should be a lot of fun. In September we’ll head to Texas Lutheran University for an overnight retreat. Then in February we’ll have our synod youth gathering at Camp Chrysalis.

· We need to begin thinking about what we want to do next summer. How about a trip to Heifer International? Or maybe a mission trip with another congregation?

A strong youth program requires a strong foundation. I believe we have this at FELC. We have strong leadership in our youth ministers. We have a pastor that is committed to our youth. We have a congregation that totally supports us. We have youth and parental buy-in. We may be small in number but we are mighty in spirit! Keep watch for all the details over the next few weeks.
