3M Half Marathon This Sunday

Be sure to check the course map to see what impact the 3M Half Marathon may
have on your trip to church. If you normally cross 45th from the north, or
Duval from the east, you may need an alternate route. Here is the link to
the map:

Children’s Casting Call …

Spark Rotation continues on Sunday with our second session on Mary and
Martha. This week we’ll hold a creative drama workshop for all ages called,
“The Mary and Martha Show” at 9:45 am in the parish library.

Godly Play will be held during the Children’s Gathering Time of the 11 am
service. This week we’ll experience the Parable of the Good Shepherd. This
presentation is more of an identifying statement of Jesus than a parable.
It is especially connected to and an introduction for the later lessons on
the “I am” statements in John’s gospel.

Youth Happenings

We’re off to a terrific start to our fundraising efforts for the ELCA Youth
Gathering. Look for the youth table during the hospitality time after the
11 am service. We’ll continue taking orders for bagged mulch. $10 per bag
and $10 delivery fee (if needed).

At 5:30 pm on Sunday (1/25/15), we’ll be holding a special youth/parent
dinner at the home of Jimmy and Katie Wright. Our spring schedule will be
discussed with a special focus on preparation and fundraising for the ELCA
Youth Gathering.

And finally, Youth Forum resumes on February 1st with a continuation of The
Gospel According to the Walking Dead. 9:45 am on the stage.

Parenting Workshop
Monday, January 26

First English Lutheran CDC would like to invite you to a parent workshop on
January 26 on Handling Aggressive Behaviors in children with Claire Flynn.
She will focus some special attention on the issue of biting because it is
consistently a cause of concern in a child care setting, but she will
discuss other behaviors as well (hitting, pushing, kicking, etc.) Whether
you are concerned about your child exhibiting these behaviors or being on
the receiving end of them, even if you haven’t had to deal with them
yet–she will have good information for everyone and always allows some
time for questions.

The cost of the workshop is $10 per family.

It will be from 6-7:30 in the Fellowship Hall.
Please RSVP to Shannon Ball at sball@firstenglishcdc.org
