Dinner Church: Stories of Food and Faith

to biblical stories about food and faith. Dinner begins serving at 6 PM.
Worship is from 6:30 to 7:15 PM.

Sunday, March 1

CROP Hunger Walks help children and families worldwide – including here in
the U.S. – to have food for today, while building for a better tomorrow.
Last year more than 116,000 CROP Walkers, volunteers and sponsors put their
caring into action, raising funds to help end hunger and poverty at home
and around the world. Sarah Roberts is walking on Sunday, March 1 in the
Austin CROP Hunger Walk and invites you to join her team as a Walker. Just
go to the FELC team page using the link:

DONATE. There you will find the FELC team listed. You can link to join as a
walker or to donate.

years old. Cash or check made out to FELC is fine

For more information you can contact Jimmy Wright formation@felcaustin.org

We rocked our “All about Lent” event this past Sunday with close to 100%
attendance. That is awesome! We also had a visiting friend of Theo come and
participate with us. I highly encourage this. Simply invite a friend to
spend the night on Saturday and come to church on Sunday.

If your kids missed this past Sunday, don’t worry. I still have their “Lent
in a Bag” bags and they can pick them up in the library on Sunday. These
contain items that the whole family can use around the dinner table during Lent.

Spark Rotation begins a new cycle called, “The Prodigal Son” on March 1st
and 8th. Watch for the details to arrive addressed to your children this week.

Godly Play takes a break this week as Mr. Jimmy will be at St. Elias with
our older youth. We’ll have a special children’s sermon during the 11am service.

We have a Sunday morning nursery attendant! Please join me in welcoming
Brenda Breland to FELC. Brenda is a caring mother and grandmother and
brings a loving and calm presence to our youngest children. Brenda will be
with us each week from 9:30am-12:30pm. The nursery is available for
infants, toddlers and under age 3 preschoolers in the CDC classroom closest
to the parish office.

Exceptions can be made for families with children up to kindergarten age,
but I’d really like this to be the exception, not the norm. Older children
should be participating in Spark Rotation, worship, and Godly Play. We all
face days tougher than others. If your child is having trouble during the
service, I would encourage you to leave the service with your child and
return together ASAP (rather than putting them in the nursery). Thanks for
your patience and help with this.

Saturday March 7th is our Lenten retreat at Buescher State Park. Our
children will explore Celtic Christianity through a short animated film
called, “The Secret of Kells.” We’ll then experience the beauty and art
contained in the “Book of Kells.” This ancient illuminated manuscript
contains the four gospels of the New Testament. In the afternoon we’ll
spend some time learning about and walking a labyrinth created in the
design of the 11 circuit labyrinth in the nave of Chartes Cathedral in France.

God’s Peace and Blessings to you and your families.

Did you know we’ve raised over $1000 in our fundraising efforts so far this
year? This is an excellent start in helping get us to Detroit next summer.
Thanks for all your good work!

Sunday March 1 will be a spirit filled day for us.

First, we’ll meet at FELC at 9:30am and spend a few moments discussing the
Orthodox Christian faith. We’ll then head over to St. Elias Orthodox Church
and experience the beauty of the Divine Liturgy during Lent. I highly
suggest you click on the following links prior to our visit. Father David
will speak to us after the mass.

Second, we’ll meet at the home of Allen, Ashley, Josh and Ben Jensen (512-918-1469) at 5:30pm for dinner and discussion on the ELCA Youth Gathering. Please RSVP with Jimmy (440) 985-8981 by Friday, February 27th.

Saturday March 7 is our parish Lenten retreat at Buescher State Park
beginning at 10am. Your presence is so needed. We don’t have YARPS this
year so I need your help with the children in the morning. Free time and
games for you in the afternoon. The money we would have paid the YARPS will
go towards our youth fund to help with costs of the ELCA Youth Gathering.
So look at this as a fundraiser. RSVP with Jimmy (which means, please let
me know if you’re coming or not).
