AUSTIN MARATHON THIS SUNDAY
The annual Austin Marathon can make it a challenge to get to church, but
you can make it. Here is some helpful information:
1. The easiest way to get to church without crossing the course is by
taking the Westover exit from MoPac (from northbound or southbound) and
then taking 29th Street.
2. If you’re coming from I-35 or anywhere east of the church, there are a
few places you can cross the course, but you may have to wait a while
before police let you cross. These include Duval at 38th, and Dean Keeton
at San Jancinto. If you take Dean Keeton you’ll need to go all the way to
Guadalupe and then head north.
3. North Lamar Blvd is completely open, but the course crosses Lamar at
North Loop/53rd Street.
More information, and a course map, is available at this link:

FASTNACHT PANCAKE SUPPER AND TALENT SHOW
Tuesday, February 17
Dinner at 6; Show at 7
Come enjoy the last day before Lent. Get your Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday)
feast with pancakes and all the rest. Then stay for the talent show. Got an
act for the show? Let Pastor Coffey know by calling the church or email
February 17th is our Fastnacht pancake supper, talent show and cake
auction. All members of FELC are encouraged to bring a cake that our youth
will auction off. This is a fun fundraiser (like the play on words?) that
will help our youth attend the ELCA Youth Gathering next summer in the
Motor City. Bring your favorite cake along with a description of what is in
it and why it is your favorite and our youth will do the rest. We thank you
for your continued support!
ASH WEDNESDAY LITURGY
February 18, Noon and 7 PM
This solemn day begins the season of Lent. The Noon liturgy is a brief
spoken eucharist with imposition of ashes, followed by a light lunch. The
evening liturgy is a eucharist with imposition of ashes, and follows the
Companion Cafe dinner.
CHILDREN AND FAMILY MINISTRY
February 15th is a big day for us. Please come and help make this is
transformative day for you and your children.
Spark Rotation will hold a special cooking workshop at 9:45am. This will be
our last Sunday covering The Lost Sheep and Lost Coin.
Godly Play will be taking the day off. But, we’ll have a very special
children’s sermon during the 11am service.
Family Movie Matinee will begin at 4pm in the parlor with a special showing
of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. This film comes from the C.S.
Lewis series of books, The Chronicles of Narnia. In this story, four
siblings play a game of hide and seek and wind up entering a magical land.
Once there, they discover a world inhabited by beasts, dwarfs, and giants
and find themselves in a battle to defeat a witch.
February 22nd Spark Rotation will hold a very special workshop on the
meaning of Lent. Our kids will experience a children’s station of the cross
and go home with a family, Lent in a Bag, present. Your children don’t want
to miss this one.
Godly Play returns during the children’s gathering time of the 11am
service. Children will experience the Parable of the Great Pearl which
focuses on the merchant and the great pearl from Mathew 13:45. Upon
returning to the nave, the children will have the option of sitting with
Mr. Jimmy in a soft space in the north transept (parents are welcome to
join us) or returning to their families in the pews.
God’s Peace and Blessings,
February 15th The trip to St. Elias Orthodox Church is cancelled due to
traffic and parking issues with the Austin Marathon. We are rescheduling
this trip for March 1st.
February 17th is our youth fundraiser and cake auction during the Fastnatch

February 22nd is our service/outreach project for the Micah 6 youth drop-in
