Weekly Update – April 29

This Sunday we welcome our guest preacher and presider, Herb Palmer.
Herb and Kathy joined FELC this past year. Herb is an ELCA pastor currently
serving as the Coordinator for Ministry Leadership for Region 4 in the ELCA.

This past Sunday presented a children’s sermon based on the Parable of
the Good Shepherd. This is one of my favorite stories for children because
they can easily make sense of it. God loves us, leads us, provides for us,
protects us and even laid down His life for us. This is very good news!

May 3rd will be our final Spark Rotation class of the program year and it
is going to be a great one. First, I will lead the full presentation of The
Parable of the Good Shepherd. Next, we’ll have a feast complete with party
food. Weather permitting; we’ll go outside on the playground so the kids
can be as loud and joyous as they want.

May 10th we’ll have a special teacher appreciation brunch—pastries, fruit
and such—in the library at 9:45 a.m. All Spark Rotation teachers, parents,
and children are welcome to attend. Our teachers will also be recognized
during the 11 a.m. service.

First Communion class will be going to Café Monet after the 11 a.m. service
on May 3rd. Café Monet is located in the Triangle, 4700 W. Guadalupe St.
#11, (512) 906-2200. Our children will paint their own chalice and paten.
The cost is $49.80. Please plan to arrive at Café Monet by 1 p.m.

Mr. Jimmy, Director of CYF Ministries

May 3rd let’s sell some stock shares after the 11 a.m. service! It would be great to see our fundraising surpass $3000 by the end of May.

May 10th we’ll be having a special recognition and blessing for our graduating seniors during the 11 a.m. service. All youth should come and support your brothers and sisters in Christ on this special day.

Looking ahead we should plan another fundraiser towards the end of May. Perhaps a Sunday morning car wash while folks are in church…

Beginning at 9:00 am we move out the furniture of the final two rooms and pull up the old carpet. After we repaint we will install new carpet and return all of Marjorie’s furniture.
