The male spirituality group meets monthly to build up brotherhood, plan ways of serving together, and explore spirituality that speaks to the hearts of men. Beginning in September, the group will use the book, The Hidden Spirituality of Men, by Matthew Fox, for discussion. The book may be ordered from Amazon for $14.00, and is available on Kindle for $9.99. Pastor Coffey can order from Amazon with free shipping, so let him know if you’d like him to get it for you.

This 1989 film by Woody Allen received widespread critical acclaim and many nominations and awards for writing, directing, and acting. It is one of Allen’s more serious and mature films, exploring difficult questions about God and human choices. What does it mean to lead a moral life, and how would you act if you knew you could get away with almost anything?

Bring a friend, grab some dinner and eat while you watch. Come and enjoy the next installment of this ongoing film and discussion series.

This 2004 film is written by Charlie Kaufman, who also wrote Being John Malkovich, Adaptation, and Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, among others. As in those films, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind explores the themes of the inner workings of the mind, illusions of time, and the actions of deeply flawed people. Kaufman’s trademark surrealism and confusion of plot line and time are seen here as well. Questions about relationships, suffering, and what makes life meaningful will be explored. Join Pastor Coffey, bring a friend, bring your own dinner, and enjoy the popcorn.

that follows. Bring your own dinner to eat
during the movie if you want, and enjoy the
free popcorn.

Pastor Coffey hosts another movie night on October 12 at 6:30 P.M. with the amazing Babette’s Feast, a touching and humorous look into religious devotion, sacrifice, and Christ‐like living. This 1987 film won the Academy Award for best foreign language film.
As always, the movie will be shown in large screen projection with great sound. Bring your own dinner if you want to eat during the movie. Free popcorn is provided. Pastor Coffey will lead a
discussion following the film. This is a great event to invite a friend or neighbor to attend.

We have such a great time each year at our annual chicken BBQ in the spring, it’s time to add a fun fall social event.  Octoberfest is a great way to enjoy unique food and music.  Pastor Coffey will be making an Octoberfest homebrew to sample as we gather at the BBQ pit to cook up sausage.

Join us as we gather on St. Francis Day in Hemphill Park at 3 PM to bless the animals that enrich our lives.  Bring your pets caged or leashed, from dogs and cats to chinchillas and turtles, as we gather to give thanks to God for all creatures and bless those we love.  People of all faiths are invited to attend.
